Jeongseo works as an office worker while drawing a webtoon about vampires. Silver Apricot is a film that juxtaposes two narratives: the cold reality of a protagonist preparing for marriage while facing the complexities of winning a lottery for an apartment, and a vampire fantasy. In the real world, she anxiously waits for the result of her full-time employment evaluation, while in the fantasy world she is a vampire who survives by drinking human blood. The fantasy of filling her insatiable hunger with human blood hints at Jeongseo's fundamental desires, as well as the emotional void she experienced from the breakup of her family due to her father's infidelity during her childhood. With the big stroke of luck of winning the apartment lottery, Jeongseo must confront her father, who lives a completely separate life with his own family, in order to pay the down payment. The film explores one of the most pressing contemporary issues in Korean society – apartments – and delves into the individual's desires, the harshness of life, and the subtle tensions that arise within families. As an individual, a daughter, a member of society, and a vampire in her imagination, Jeongseo stands at a crossroads. What can the apartment down payment promise her? The first and last scenes of the film are structurally similar, yet they generate entirely different meanings. The film supports the choices and leaps made by an individual without adhering to conventional values. (Seoul Independent Film Festival)
