Documentary Festival Invites Elderly Love Story

North America’s largest documentary film event, Hot Docs Canadian International Film Festival, is just around the corner. Founded in 1993, the festival shows over 180 documentaries each year, selected from all over the world. This year’s edition will be composed of the Canadian and international competitive programs, an international documentary market, the Doc Shop, and the Hot Docs Forum.

Hot Docs has discovered and shined a light on Korean documentary in previous years, such as YI Seung-jun’s well regarded Planet of Snail in 2012. Last year, three Korean films were invited to the festival including Tour of Duty, My Place and The Basement Satellite.

The sole Korean film to be invited to the festival this year is the alternative box office hit My Love, Don’t Cross that River by JIN Mo-young. Spawning from the everyday life of an elderly couple who still biker and joke like teenagers, the film elicited many tears when it was released at the end of last year. The film is programmed in the World Showcase section.

The Hot Docs Canadian International Film Festival will be held from April 23rd until May 3rd.
