THE SHAMELESS and THE THRONE to Bookend Event

Going into its 14th year, the Florence Korea Film Fest is gearing up for one of its broadest programs yet, loading up 29 features and 8 shorts over for its March event, which will run from the 11th until the 18th.

Opening this year’s edition will be OH Seung-uk’s romantic thriller The Shameless. Invited to the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival last year, the film stars JEON Do-yeon and KIM Nam-gil. Closing the proceedings will be LEE Joon-ik’s period drama The Throne. A hit at home and winner of the Best Film and Music awards at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, the feature stars SONG Kang-ho and YOO Ah-in.

Receiving pride of place at this year’s edition will be director RYOO Seung-wan, who will be the subject of a complete retrospective of his work, starting with his debut Die Bad (2000) all the way to last year’s box office behemoth Veteran.

The lineup of current films includes festival titles such as Madonna (Cannes), Right Now, Wrong Then (Locarno) and Steel Flower (Busan), alongside commercial titles including The Treacherous, The Chronicles of Evil and C'est Si Bon, among others. A handful of slightly older titles, White (2011), Dancing Queen (2012) and Highway Star (2007), are also on the program.

Festival guests this year will include directors RYOO Seung-wan, OH Seung-uk , LEE Joon-ik, KIM Hyun-seok (C'est Si Bon), SHIN Su-won (Madonna) and HONG Won-chan (Office).
