Martial Arts Occult Drama with PARK Seo-joon and AHN Sung-ki Kicks Off Production

Upcoming occult drama The Divine Fury kicked off production on August 14. The project sees Jason KIM and PARK Seo-jun, the director and star of last year’s buddy cop smash sensation Midnight Runners (2017), team up once again. Also on board in leading roles are veteran star AHN Sung-ki and new face WOO Do-hwan.

PARK, who plays a martial arts champion who lost his father and comes face to face with a powerful evil force, is well known for his appearances in TV dramas. Prior to Midnight Runners, he also appeared in the Korean thriller The Chronicles of Evil and the melodrama The Beauty Inside, both in 2015.

After debuting as a child actor in the early 60s in works such as KIM Ki-young’s The Housemaid (1960), AHN Sung-ki became one of the most dominant actors of the 1980s and has headlined several classics throughout the years, including LEE Myung-se’s Nowhere To Hide (1999) and CHUNG Ji-young’s Unbowed (2012).

Young actor WOO Do-hwan was seen in the star-driven thriller Master in 2016 and also had a small part in the Korean War drama Operation Chromite (2016) earlier that year.

Following two indie films, including the well-regarded youth drama Koala (2012), Jason KIM made his commercial filmmaking debut with Midnight Runners, which became the sleeper hit of summer 2017, as it sprinted all the way to 5.65 million admissions (USD 40.98 million). Also teaming up once more with Director KIM on The Divine Fury is investor and distributor Lotte Entertainment, currently on a high after scoring two consecutive ten million hits with their Along with the Gods fantasy series.
