TILL WE MEET AGAIN to Open Genre Film Jubilee in Bucheon

Till We Meet Again (2021)

The temperature is rising, and humidity is in the air, which means that the latest edition of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan), Asia’s top destination for genre film, is just around the corner. BiFan, which will host its 25th edition from July 8 to 18, recently announced this year’s program, which will kick off with the world premiere of Till We Meet Again, the latest film by Taiwanese filmmaker Giddens Ko.

BiFan is preparing to screen 258 films from 47 countries, which will include the hotly anticipated The Medium, the Thai horror film directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and produced by Na Hongjin, also a world premiere.

Just like last year, BiFan is offering up a hybrid event this summer, which will include offline screenings held in compliance with Covid protocols in Bucheon, and an online showcase through the streaming platform waave, which will present 146 of the films in the program.

The Medium is one of the ten films screening in Bucheon Choice, BiFan’s signature competition section. The top prize winner will be automatically selected as this year’s closing feature.

Notable recent genre works among this year’s selection include Shiraishi Kazuya’s gangland film Last of the Wolves, the Canadian horror Violation from Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli, and Travis Stevens’ Jakob’s Wife starring horror icon and BiFan fan favorite Barbara Crampton.

Beyond current films, BiFan will host several retrospective screenings, including its ‘Strange Hommage’ section with George A. Romero’s The Amusement Park, Roger Corman’s A Bucket of Blood, and the classic Korean horror Gooseflesh (2001), among others.

Speaking of Korean horror, Memento Mori (1999), the second film in the popular Whispering Corridors K-horror franchise, will screen in ‘The Memory of Lee Choonyun’ section, dedicated to the celebrated producer who passed away last month.
