Jung Haein Already Cast in 6-Part Webtoon Adaptation  

Believer (2018) star Ryu Junyeol has been offered and is considered a leading role in Connect, the upcoming limited series that will mark the Korean drama directing debut of acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Miike Takashi. If he signs on, Ryu may join D.P. star Jung Haein, who is also positively considering an offer to appear in the series.

Based on a webtoon of the same name, the six-episode series Connect will follow a man who has had organs illegally harvested from him who develops a special connection with the man who receives the said organs.

After rising to stardom through the hit drama Reply 1988, Ryu has appeared in major films such as A Taxi Driver (2017) and Little Forest (2018). He recently appeared opposite Jeon Doyeon in the JTBC drama Lost, by filmmaker Hur Jinho.

Miike, a veteran of over 100 films, including Ichi the Killer and 13 Assassins, is the latest major Japanese filmmaker to venture over to Korea. Palme d’Or winner Koreeda Hirokazu recently wrapped production on his Korean-language debut Broker, featuring Song Kangho, Bae Doona, Gang Dongwon, IU (aka Lee Jieun) and Kim Namgil.

Though a broadcaster has yet to be officially announced, many believe that Connect will eventually see the light of day on Netflix. The series is reportedly eyeing a November production start date.
