Director Jung Bumshik’s New Film in 4 Years After GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum, a Closer of the 26 BIFAN

Director Jung Bumshik’s New Normal, which was selected as the official closing film of the 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, has officially been invited to the 66th BFI London Film Festival. The BFI London International Film Festival, which has been held in London every year since 1957, is the largest film festival in the UK and will open on October 5 this year. The festival invited Korean films, including New Normal, Director Park Chanwook's Decision to Leave, etc., this year.

New Normal is a new film by Director Jung Bumshik, which is released 4 years after GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum (2018), which opened a new phase of Korean horror films. New Normal is a suspense film that combines the dangers and fears hidden in our daily lives after the Pandemic. Actors Choi Jiwoo, Lee Yoomi, Choi Minho, Pyo Jihoon, Jung Dongwon, and Ha Dain appear in the film.

Damon Wise, a programmer of the festival, introduces New Normal this way; “The portmanteau horror film hasn’t been in fashion for a while now, but this riotous midnight-movie cracker from South Korea’s Jung Bumshik is a cool throwback to the genre’s 60s British heyday,” also commenting, “New Normal combines the feral fun of Damián Szifron’s Wild Tales with the whip-smart jigsaw storytelling of Doug Liman’s Go.”

New Normal will be screened 3 times for audiences around the world for 2 days at the ODEON Luxe West End on October 15 and Prince Charles Cinema on October 16.
